Hit the play button on my video (below) for insights into why styling a home for sale is able to increase its value.
When someone makes the effort to style their home for sale, we know that we’ll get a better price. Why? Because it will be more appealing to the buyer. Your current home needs to look like a buyer’s dream home, ready to move in and live that fabulous lifestyle they’ve seen.
Maybe it’s a first homebuyer starting their property journey after living at home forever, they want space and to imagine it as theirs. A styled home should feel calm and inviting. But where do you start? Declutter – that’s the basics.
Make it obvious what the space or room is for, so in your living room, create a conversation area, comfortable to relax. Clear surfaces, polish everything, including the windows and go around your home to make sure all the curtain hooks are snugly in position and the stickers are off the windows.
In your kitchen, try to find cupboard space for anything you normally keep on your benches. Clear worktops sell kitchens and sell houses. For bathrooms, hide mismatched towels or donate them, and then head to Kmart for matching towels that complement your bathroom colours.
You don’t need to spend a fortune to style. Local homeware stores stock beautiful décor items. Cheat by buying one of their fake orchids; in photos, you can’t tell it’s fake. Borrow things from friends.
Use your phone to take photos as you go and keep tweaking until your images look the way you imagined they should when it’s on the market. And, if you’re still stuck, ask me for guidance or head to YouTube and type ‘home staging’ for inspiration.
If you need guidance on selling your home, please don’t hesitate to call me.
