Hit the play button on my video (below) for the reason behind declutter before selling your home before you sell.
It doesn’t matter how long you’ve lived in your home, you’ve probably got too much stuff. We all have. Your potential buyer needs to form an emotional connection with your property, rather than what you have, and they can’t do that if they feel overwhelmed by the evidence of your life.
When we’re marketing your home, it helps if our photographer can photograph clean, expansive rooms, not distracted by clutter, they want to take images to entice buyers to imagine themselves living in your easy-to-manage home.
Starting to declutter is hard, and can be overwhelming but it’s easier when you break it down into steps. Start with the easy stuff, like getting rid of the odd socks, boxes you’ve kept for reasons you can’t remember, and clothing you’ll never wear again.
Clear out those overstuffed cupboards that barely close, and trust me when I tell you that Every Buyer Opens Cupboards. If all they see is a cupboard packed with your stuff, they’ll feel there isn’t enough storage for THEIR things and they walk away thinking it has little storage.
When you get to the family photos and holiday mementoes, think about how you could keep the memories without keeping the items on display through the campaign ‒ maybe by photographing them.
If you can’t part with any of them, hide them at a friend’s place or in containers. If you need guidance on selling your home, please don’t hesitate to call me.
